Red Sand Beach in Hana

This is Kaihalulu Beach or red sand beach and is a short hike down a little path in Hana. Lots of websites say the path is dangerous, but we found it a fairly easy ten minute walk. A really cool place if you are ever in Hana, Maui, Hawaii.

Haleakala Silversword

This plant is called the Haleakala silversword and grows out of the volcanic cinder of the Haleakalā volcano in Maui. They can live for over 50 years and flower only once in their lifetime.

Pipiwai Bamboo Forest

There is a really cool bamboo forest along the Pipiwai trail on the way to the Waimoku Falls on Maui, Hawaii. We did the hike on a beautiful sunny day, but when we entered the bamboo forest it got very dark with only the small patches of light shining down through the bamboo that towered above us.

Kamaole Beach

This was the closest beach to our AirBnB when we visited Kihei. Great place to relax for the day and take in some sun.

Waianapanapa State Park Rocks

This photo is from Waianapanapa State Park in Maui, Hawaii, which is just outside of Hana. Waianapanapa which literally means glistening water in Hawaiian. The pitch black basalt rocks are beautiful as the waves crash against them. I took this photo just a short walk away from black sand beach which can be seen in the distance.

West Coast Trail Beach

This is the type of beach you want to see when you are hiking. This beach was an easy walk to our campsite on the West Coast Trail.

We a long morning climbing over the boulders on the West Coast Trail but we got through it to the beautiful scenery on the other side.

Walk On The Beach

Whoever came up with the expression, Walk on the beach, as never walked a couple kms on a beach of loose gravel. It is tireing but amazingly beautiful at the same time.

West Coast Tral Campsite

We bought this new tent and took it on the westcoast trail. It was much bigger and lighter than our old backpacking tent, so we were really happy with it.

Romance Park in Sanya

This is one off the top tourist attractions in Sanya, Hainan, China. At the park there is a small zoo and shops but the highlight is an amazing cultural show that really exceeded my expectations after seeing the somewhat tacky front. I went with my daughter and we had an amazing day out here.

In two weeks my wife and I are hiking the west coast trail, it is a 75 km hike along the coast of Vancouver Island.

Before the Clouds Turned Red

Took this photo while I was waiting for the sun to finish setting. When it did set the clouds turned an amazing red but only for 5 minutes. This isn't bad for a waiting around shot.

Sunshine Coast Sunsets

This weekend we took a road trip to the sunshine coast for the first time. The place we are staying at is a 10 minute walk to Francis point provincial park so tonight I went for a walk down to the park at sunset and this is what I was lucky enough to see.
