The beautiful beach in Sanya, Hainan province in China.

  • Massive Prayer Beads

I took this at the foot of the 108 meter Guanyin of Nanshan statue near Sanya, China. It is the 14th tallest statue in the world and the tallest statue of Guanyin in the world.

Another photo from Banff as the smoke rolled in over Vermillion Lakes.

  • The crossing

Wuyishan is a popular tourist spot for local Chinese but when I was there I didn?t see any other westerners. Beautiful mountains and rivers are the seldom seen natural beauty of China.

  • Banff Wildfire

I took this photo in Banff a couple of weeks ago. It started as a beautiful day with blue skies, then the wind changed and you could see this cloud of smoke filling the sky, by the next day all the mountain disapeared into a haze of smoke and we lost our view of the mountains for the rest of the trip.

  • Standing Around Two Jack Lake

This was my second time photographing two Jack Lake, the first time was 5 years earlier when I was still really working on learning photography. So I was looking forward to going back to the same spot to see what better photos I could get now that I have a lot more experience. Five years ago I had the spot to myself, alone with the sunrise, but this time when I arrived there was a photography class already setup with tripods where I shot last time and a half dozen other small groups of photographers lining the lake. So, I took a walk around the lake until I was far enough away that I could see or hear anyone else and captured this photo while I was enjoying the sunrise.

  • Standing at the edge

Checking out the view in Dinosaur provincial park in Alberta.

  • Alone with the Gnats

This photo was taken at Dinosaur Provincial park in Alberta, Canada. I took it on a beautiful warm evening, it was about 28 degrees as the sun went down. The reason I am wearing a long sleeve jacket and long pants is because of the bugs, there were swarms of gnats and misquotes that would bite any piece of exposed skin if I stood any one place for too long. So, I didn't stand there for long but the park is amazingly beautiful despite the bugs.

  • Alberta Badlands View

This is me checking out the crazy rock formations at Dinosaur Provincial Park in the Alberta Badlands last summer.

  • Badlands View

Checking out the badlands in Dinosaur provincial park.

  • Astotin Lake Sunset

I took this selfie at Elk Island National Park just outside of Edmonton, Alberta. I was hoping for a few more clouds in the sky to catch the light of the sunset but was happy to find a relaxy place to enjoy the beauty.

  • Summer Long Weekends

The first long weekend of the summer is almost over and I have the urge to start posting photos again. I don't do as much photography over the winter so don't post as many photos but now that summer is here I will be out taking more photos. Here is one from last year.

  • Share the Chair

These red chairs were placed all over Canada's national parks for the 150th anniversary of Canada. This is one of the sets in Elk Island National park.

  • Astotin Lake Sunset

Elk Island National Park does not get the fan fair of the other big parks in Alberta like Banff and Jasper but it is a beautiful place ot spend a couple of days with beautiful sunsets.

  • Wood Bison

Found this guy eating on the side of the road in Elk Island National Park. Wood bison are the largest land animals in North America and wouldn't have dreamed getting this close if I wasn't taking a photo through an open window from my vehical.

  • What you lookin at?

If I wasn't safely in a vehicle this look from the largest land animal in North America would have been pretty scary, but this wood bison took one look then went back to having his breakfast.

  • Share the Chair

  • Bison Loop Road

The day before I took this photo the field was filled with Wood bison,, but when I came back the next morning at sunrise they had moved on. So, I got some sunrise shots then headed back to the campsite and saw a bison on the side of the road on the way home, photos to come soon.

  • Lucerne Lake Morning

Took this at sunrise at Lucerne lake which is an amazing little campsite not far from Jasper, Alberta, Canada.
