Many small bars line the hill in Lijiang old town. Each offers a great view of the historic rooftops while offering hot tea or cold beer, we went with a cold beer.

Winter Flowers

Unlike most of Canada, many plants in along the British Columbia coast don't need to go into hibernation mode during the winter. This plant was flowering on Christmas eve while most Canadian plants have been in the cold for a good couple of months.

Vancouver Clouds

One nice thing about Vancouver is that it doesn't get too cold in winter compared to most of Canada. However, that doesn't mean everyday is like summer, we don't see the sun that much over the winter months, if we are lucky it looks like this. Taken the day after new years.

Snowshoe Trail

I was never quite into snowshoeing in the past. If I was up in the mountain in the winter I would be on a snowboard. However, after my daughter was born I realized snowboarding isn't a great family sport for a 6 month old. I still wanted to hang out in British Columbia's beautiful mountains but needed something more family friendly and snowshoeing worked great, we got a 20$ sled to drag Josephine in and rented snow shoes. We did it three times last year and I plan to do it a lot more in the future, a great winter activity!

Sun Peak

The sun was trying to peek out from behind the clouds as we snowshoed through the mountains and over this frozen lake but it never quite came out, still a great day and picture, even with no sun.
