Boy monk

Back in 2007 I was picked up by a Chinese photographer when hitch hiking in Northern Yunnan province. He knew when these monks were having prayers and we arrived to watch with many other locals. I took this photo as the monks were leaving the temple. I was the only foreigner there that day, maybe even that year ... This boy took a good long look at me as he walked by.

Lakeside Log

The booth rock trail in Algonquin park finishes along a old railroad trail alongside this lake, it was getting late but I stopped to get a couple of pictures before the sun went down, this was one of the better ones.

Stoney Sunset

Then the tide goes out a pebble beach is exposed near where I live in Vancouver. The tide isn't low at sunset very often but when it is I always try to get down to the water for a few photos.

Lagar Harlo's Corner View

The Dorset Lookout Tower is covered in graffiti which kind of adds to the charm. Leary and Harlo seemed to have gotten here before me, hope they enjoyed the view as much as I did.

Graffiti Sunset

This was taken when the tide is as high as it gets around Vancouver. There isn't much room between me and the stairs that lead down to the water behind me. The graffiti on on the walls lines the shores of Vancouver and was well lit up with the sunset.

South Yunnan Slow Walk

While eastern China rapidly develops by exporting good around the world, many areas of western China have been left behind. This town in southern Yunnan province, just before the Burma border crossing, had unreliable electricity and was missing many of the "comforts" of developed society, like indoor plumbing and refrigeration. They lived a simple life raising their crops and tending to livestock, much as they have for hundreds of years.

Green Baracade

Interesting how the first layer of trees next to the water are all evergreens while all the deciduous trees hide behind. I am sure there is a scientific reason for this but I am just happy to have all the colors show up in the photo.
