Already Fallen

Already Fallen

There are many amazing temples at Angkor Wat but around all the temples are the reminants of the temples that have already fallen. The sites of the former temples are marked by piles of the large rocks used to build them so many years ago.

Neighbouring Mountains

Neighbouring Mountains

It had been a while since visiting Victoria but I was there over the Christmas holidays. I had forgotten how close it is to the states. This photo of the American mountains was taken from the shore of Victoria.

Root Window

Root Window

These massive roots hold a tree atop the temple, it is amazing how they have grown right along the walls and have become even more sturdy than the achient temple itself.

Angkor Wat Classic View

Angkor Wat Classic View

This is the classic temple most people think of when they imagine in Angkor Wat, it is even included on the Cambodian flag. When I went there it was under construction which is what the green sheets are on the front, still not a bad shot even with the construction.

Cloudy Ripple

Cloudy Ripple

Taken from my favorite spot down by the water near my place in Vancouver. I have a similar photo many times but it always ends up different because the clouds are different and the tide changes, makes it interesting.

Overhanging Anchent Tree

Overhanging Anchent Tree

I often consider makeing my photos black and white but 90% of the time I like them better in color. This is one of those rare times when I looked at the black and white and thought it really improved the photo. The color version contain a lot of green (from the grass and moss) and a very blue sky which distracts from the crumbling temple. The black and white version allows you to better view the ancient temple which is the best part of the photo.

Stone Stairs To Nowhere

Stone Stairs To Nowhere

Was checking out the view of the falls at Sooke Potholes Provincial Park when I noticed a fenced in foundation of an abandoned building. All that remained of the old building was the stone walls and stairs. These stairs seemed to go to nowhere along a cliff that lead down to the river below.

Eagle Bluffs Flower

Eagle Bluffs Flower

I went on a hike up Cypress mountain in West Vancouver, to go to Eagle Bluffs to take some pictures of the view, but when I arrived at the bluffs there was no view ... I was in the middle of a big cloud and couldn't see more than 20 meters in front of me. Since I had carried my camera all the way up I was determined to find something to photograph and found this cool looking flower on the bluffs, different than a view of the city but not bad photo none the less.
