Early Afternoon Sunset

Early Afternoon Sunset

In the winter, the sun goes down pretty early in Vancouver. This was taken at 4:30pm in mid November. The sun had already started to set which allowed me to use a slow shutter speed to get this cool looking water in the shot.

Point Me Towards Downtown Vancouver

Point Me Towards Downtown Vancouver

Taken from lighthouse park in West Vancouver, you can see down town Vancouver just below the clouds in the far off distance. This old stump seams to be pointing the way across Burrard inlet to the bustling city center.

Drift Log

Drift Log

This log has obviously been drifting for a while before it washed up on this stone beach in Juan de Fuca Provincial Park. It was the color that stood out from the rest of the beach and caught my eye.

Little Lighthouse

Little Lighthouse

In West Vancouver there is a good size park with a little light house. They don't let you get up close to the lighthouse but got this photo from across the water, it is bigger than it looks in the photo.

Botanical Beach

Botanical Beach

A couple hours drive up the west coast of Vancouver Island is Port Renfrew, a small town with one store and a couple of motels. Most people visit for either Salmon fishing or hiking the west coast trail but there is also a provincial park called Juan de Fuca Provincial Park. This is the "botanical beach" in the park. Along the beach there are a number of tide pools with ocean life. Low tide is the best time to go and view the little critters.
