The ice on one mile lake near Pemberton was just melting when I visited. In about a month it will be a great place for a swim to get away from the hot summer sun.

One Morning on One Mile Lake

I just took an extra day off work to head up to Pemberton and Whistler last weekend. It rained in the valley the first to days, which wasn't too bad because it was snowing up in the mountains. But on the last day we got some sunshine. I was up early enough to catch the the sun rising over the mountains behind one mile lake on the outskirts of Pemberton.

Snowshoe Trail

I was never quite into snowshoeing in the past. If I was up in the mountain in the winter I would be on a snowboard. However, after my daughter was born I realized snowboarding isn't a great family sport for a 6 month old. I still wanted to hang out in British Columbia's beautiful mountains but needed something more family friendly and snowshoeing worked great, we got a 20$ sled to drag Josephine in and rented snow shoes. We did it three times last year and I plan to do it a lot more in the future, a great winter activity!

Sun Peak

The sun was trying to peek out from behind the clouds as we snowshoed through the mountains and over this frozen lake but it never quite came out, still a great day and picture, even with no sun.

Sled Tracks

I tried out snowshoeing last winter because my daughter was to small to go snowboarding (she was 7 months old at the time). We really enjoyed it and plan to head out again this year. These tracks were from the sled my daughter was sleeping in as we walked across this frozen lake.
