During the winter in Vancouver the sun rises more from the south. On a good day the sunrise colors the local mountains to the north with a nice glow. Unfortunately, there aren't that many "good" days during the winter because the clouds normally obscure the view of the mountains. I was lucky to be up one morning when it was clear enough to get a good sunrise.
Took this photo from Galiano Island with a zoom lens. Liked the way the Arbutus trees looked without the leaves.
When the tide goes out and the wind is down, the pools of water along the shore are nice and calm.
