The building on the left is Bonsecours Market or Marche Bonsecours in French. It is one of Canada's top ten heritage buildings and has been around since 1847.
The center of the photo is Nelsons column. Built in 1809 it is the second old column in the world!
It was not in the budget to stay at the Chateau Laurier Hotel while I was passing through Ottawa but spent some time taking photos of the famous chateau and had breakfast buffet there the morning after I took this photo.
