About this Cribs Creek Campground wall art
Cribs Creek is a beach campsite near kilometre 42 of the West Coast Trail, where the sand runs long and flat below a wall of spruce and hemlock. Driftwood piles up along the forest edge, the surf comes in low and steady, and down the shore a tree-topped headland and a few sea stacks take the waves.
We reached Cribs Creek on the evening of our third day in September 2018 and got the tent up before anything else. Then I turned around to look at the beach we had just walked and it was the whole west coast in one view, waves on the sand and those trees hanging onto the rock in the distance. I made this frame a little after seven as the light went soft.
This is the photo from that week that went up on my own wall when we got home. As West Coast Trail wall art it keeps the long beach, the surf and the headland at the end of a hard day, and as a West Coast Trail Vancouver Island print it is the view you earn by walking there.

About This Spot
This print was made from the beach at Cribs Creek campsite, near kilometre 42 of the West Coast Trail, looking back along the sand toward the headland we had walked past that afternoon. The trail is reached on foot only, from Pachena Bay near Bamfield or Gordon River at Port Renfrew, with a Parks Canada permit and an open season from May to September. Cribs Creek sits on an open beach, so the evening light comes straight in off the water and the surf never really quiets. Check the tide tables before walking the beach sections on either side of the camp.

About the Prints

The image is dye-sublimated into the coating of a ChromaLuxe aluminum panel, not printed on top. That's what gives a metal print its depth, its luminescence, and its longevity. Comes ready to hang on a hidden mount that floats it half an inch off the wall.
The image is face-mounted behind a 1/8-inch optically pure acrylic panel. The thickness adds depth, giving the print a slight glass-like quality where the image seems to sit just behind the surface. Polished edges, with a hidden mount on the back that floats the print half an inch off the wall.
