Framed Print
The print is on 230gsm archival matte paper, matted with a two-inch Peterboro white core mat, and finished in a thin black wood frame. The most traditional of the three finishes, and the one that suits almost any room.
Vancouver Island, BC
Tofino, Ucluelet and the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve between them are the open-ocean side of Vancouver Island, three hours west of where I live. I have been coming here my whole life, and every trip ends the same way, down at the water at sunset. The work in this gallery is those evenings: Long Beach, Florencia Bay and the headland trail at Ucluelet. New work joins it as the archive is printed.
No customs fees on cross-border orders.
Based in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.
A reprint or store credit if the print isn't right.

About This Gallery
Every photograph in this gallery has a real GPS coordinate behind it. The pins on the map are the places I was standing when the frame was made, and new pins go up as more of the coast joins the gallery.

About This Gallery
Tofino and Ucluelet sit at the end of Highway 4, forty kilometres apart on the open Pacific side of Vancouver Island with Pacific Rim National Park Reserve between them. It is one of the few places in Canada with real surf, and the scale of Long Beach, sixteen kilometres of sand with surfers in the water year-round, does not come across until you are standing on it. The road over the mountains takes about three hours from the Comox Valley, where I live, and the weather you arrive in is rarely the weather you left. Storms come in off the ocean with little warning and clear just as fast.
I have been visiting this coast on and off my whole life. I came here with my parents as a child, met friends here for parties in my twenties, and now bring my own children to the beaches for the same reasons. The place has not changed much in that time, and neither has my routine. Whatever else the day holds, at sunset I am down at the water, watching how the sun, the tide and the wet sand open up compositions that were not there an hour before.
Tofino wall art from this gallery is available in matte paper, metal, acrylic and framed finishes, in sizes from small-wall to large, with Tofino art prints shipping from a Canadian printer and separate US fulfilment for orders from the States.

The image is dye-sublimated into the coating of a ChromaLuxe aluminum panel, not printed on top. That's what gives a metal print its depth, its luminescence, and its longevity. Comes ready to hang on a hidden mount that floats it half an inch off the wall.
The image is face-mounted behind a 1/8-inch optically pure acrylic panel. The thickness adds depth, giving the print a slight glass-like quality where the image seems to sit just behind the surface. Polished edges, with a hidden mount on the back that floats the print half an inch off the wall.
Featured Tofino Photo Print
Long Beach runs for 16 kilometres through Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, and on a clear August evening the whole beach faces the setting sun. We spent three nights at Green Point Campground in 2019 and the weather held every one of them.
I was down on the sand photographing the sunset along the beach when two hikers started down the rock headland in the distance, so I swung the camera from the water to the hills and let them go to silhouette against the colour. The print is that minute, the headland black and the wet sand carrying the light back.
