About this West Coast Trail wall art
The West Coast Trail runs 75 kilometres along the southwest shore of Vancouver Island between Bamfield and Port Renfrew. Most of it is ladders, mud and boulders, so when the route drops onto a beach the walking changes completely. Here, a few kilometres short of Tsusiat Falls, the sand runs flat under a layered cliff with the forest growing right to its edge.
This was the afternoon of our fourth day, in September 2018. We were worn down by then, but the last couple of kilometres before camp were beach, and that counts as heaven on this trail. I let my wife walk ahead with her red pack and stopped long enough to get the cliff, the sand and the small figure in one frame.
Every hiker who has finished that stretch knows the feeling in this picture. This West Coast Trail wall art keeps the scale honest, one person and a long beach, and as a West Coast Trail photo print it is made for the wall where the trail photos and the sore feet get remembered.

About This Spot
This West Coast Trail print was made on the beach a few kilometres south of the Tsusiat Falls campsite, about an hour's walk with a full pack, looking along the sand toward the cliff. The trail is reached on foot only, from the Pachena Bay trailhead near Bamfield or the Gordon River trailhead at Port Renfrew, with a Parks Canada permit and an open season from May to September. Beach sections like this one depend on the tide, so the trail map and tide tables decide when you can walk them. Afternoon light comes in off the water and lights the cliff face.

The image is dye-sublimated into the coating of a ChromaLuxe aluminum panel, not printed on top. That's what gives a metal print its depth, its luminescence, and its longevity. Comes ready to hang on a hidden mount that floats it half an inch off the wall.
The image is face-mounted behind a 1/8-inch optically pure acrylic panel. The thickness adds depth, giving the print a slight glass-like quality where the image seems to sit just behind the surface. Polished edges, with a hidden mount on the back that floats the print half an inch off the wall.
