About this Ruckle Provincial Park wall art
Late on a summer evening at Beaver Point the sun drops behind the hills of Salt Spring Island and the light comes in low across Ruckle Provincial Park. The dry grass on the bluff above the shore turns gold, the oaks and arbutus go dark against the sky, and the bay below holds the last of the colour.
We were camped at Ruckle in July 2022. As the last rays were setting behind the island the grass lit up yellow, and the sun was sliding toward a gap between the trunks of an old tree. I moved a step at a time until it sat in that gap, and lined the light up carefully for the full sun star.
Five minutes later, from almost the same spot, a rainbow came up over Pender Island behind me. This frame is the warm half of that evening, a Salt Spring Island sunset print of gold grass and low sun, and the Salt Spring Island photo print I reach for when I want that light back.

About This Spot
This Salt Spring Island print was made on the grassy bluff above the shore at Beaver Point in Ruckle Provincial Park, looking west along the shoreline as the sun set behind the island. Ruckle Park sits at the end of Beaver Point Road, about 10 km from the Fulford Harbour ferry, and the point is a short walk past the walk-in campsites from the parking lot. In midsummer the sun goes down behind Salt Spring itself, and the grass on the bluff only catches the light in the last few minutes before it drops into the trees.

The image is dye-sublimated into the coating of a ChromaLuxe aluminum panel, not printed on top. That's what gives a metal print its depth, its luminescence, and its longevity. Comes ready to hang on a hidden mount that floats it half an inch off the wall.
The image is face-mounted behind a 1/8-inch optically pure acrylic panel. The thickness adds depth, giving the print a slight glass-like quality where the image seems to sit just behind the surface. Polished edges, with a hidden mount on the back that floats the print half an inch off the wall.
