About this Green Point Campground wall art
The boardwalk between Long Beach and Combers Beach runs through the rainforest behind Green Point in Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. Out on this coast the forest takes a path back about as fast as anyone can build it. Moss works in from the sides of the planks, sword fern and salal lean over the edges, and the spruce limbs overhead are furred with moss and licorice fern. In the last half hour of a clear August evening the low sun comes sideways through the trunks and the whole corridor turns green and gold.
We were camped at Green Point in August 2019 and I walked this stretch most evenings on the way down to the beach. On this one the light was coming through the trees so warmly that I stopped on the boards and set up the tripod right there, moss under its feet. What I kept noticing was how the forest simply thrives up against the path, as if the boards were on loan.

About This Spot
This boardwalk runs through the rainforest behind Green Point, on the stretch between Long Beach and Combers Beach in Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. The simplest way in is the beach trail from Green Point Campground, or walk north along the sand from the Combers Beach parking lot off Highway 4 and look for the path into the trees. The light is best in the last hour before sunset on a clear summer evening, when the low sun comes sideways through the trunks and lights the moss on the boards.
