About this Long Beach wall art
Long Beach runs for 16 kilometres of open sand through the middle of Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, and on a clear August evening the whole beach faces the setting sun. The tide leaves the sand wet and flat, the rock headlands go black against the sky, and the light comes straight down the beach to your feet.
We spent three nights at Green Point Campground in August 2019 and the weather held the whole time. I was down on the sand photographing the sunset along the beach when I noticed two hikers in the distance starting their way down the rock, so I swung the camera from the water to the headland and let them go to silhouette against the colour.
I still call that stretch the best beach in BC, and the evenings are the reason. Hang this Long Beach Tofino wall art where the last light reaches and the Pacific Rim National Park sunset on it will do the same work every clear evening.

About This Spot
This Long Beach print was made on the sand below Green Point Campground, roughly midway along Long Beach in Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, looking along the beach toward the rock headland the hikers were on. Green Point is about 15 minutes south of Tofino on Highway 4, with day-use parking at the campground and at the Long Beach lot by Incinerator Rock farther north, and a Parks Canada park pass is needed. In August the sun sets over the far end of the beach rather than straight out to sea, so the headlands go to silhouette and the wet sand carries the colour back to the camera.

About the Prints

The image is dye-sublimated into the coating of a ChromaLuxe aluminum panel, not printed on top. That's what gives a metal print its depth, its luminescence, and its longevity. Comes ready to hang on a hidden mount that floats it half an inch off the wall.
The image is face-mounted behind a 1/8-inch optically pure acrylic panel. The thickness adds depth, giving the print a slight glass-like quality where the image seems to sit just behind the surface. Polished edges, with a hidden mount on the back that floats the print half an inch off the wall.
