About this San Josef Bay wall art
San Josef Bay is the easy corner of Cape Scott Provincial Park, at the far northern tip of Vancouver Island. A flat forty-five minute trail from the road end drops you onto a wide sand beach, and at its west end a group of sea stacks stands on the sand, each one carrying its own small forest on top. At low tide the sea pulls back far enough to walk between them.
I think this is the best beach on Vancouver Island, as good as Tofino and without the crowds. When we camped here in September 2020 there were a handful of other tents on a beach big enough to lose them in. We planned the days around the tide, so that low water fell at sunrise, and walked out between the stacks while the first light came up behind the trees.
This San Josef Bay sea stacks print is the view from inside the gap. If Cape Scott is on your list, this is the reason to go, and as Cape Scott wall art it is a reminder that the far end of the Island rewards the drive.

About This Spot
This San Josef Bay print was made at the west end of the first beach, standing on the sand in the gap between the sea stacks and looking inland toward the trees. San Josef Bay is in Cape Scott Provincial Park at the northern tip of Vancouver Island, reached from Port Hardy by about 65 kilometres of gravel logging road through Holberg to the trailhead, then a flat 2.5 kilometre trail to the beach. The stacks are only passable for a few hours either side of low tide, so check the tide tables, and walk-in camping on the beach is what makes a sunrise walk possible.

The image is dye-sublimated into the coating of a ChromaLuxe aluminum panel, not printed on top. That's what gives a metal print its depth, its luminescence, and its longevity. Comes ready to hang on a hidden mount that floats it half an inch off the wall.
The image is face-mounted behind a 1/8-inch optically pure acrylic panel. The thickness adds depth, giving the print a slight glass-like quality where the image seems to sit just behind the surface. Polished edges, with a hidden mount on the back that floats the print half an inch off the wall.
