About this Francis Point Provincial Park wall art
Francis Point Provincial Park sits at the edge of the Sechelt Peninsula near Madeira Park, a headland of bare rock, moss and dry summer grass with firs bent by the wind. From the bluffs on its western side the view runs straight across Malaspina Strait to the long, dark ridge of Texada Island.
I came for a quiet walk along the coastal trail in August 2018. As the evening went on, thin cloud spread in long streaks across the sky, the sun dropped toward the end of the island, and the low light picked out every tuft of moss on the slope at my feet. I stopped on the bluff where two small firs stood out against the water.
I made this Texada Island sunset print for the warm light at the end of a summer day on the coast. Hung as Francis Point Provincial Park wall art, it keeps the strait calm and the evening long.

About This Spot
This print was made on the open bluffs along the western shore of Francis Point Provincial Park, a few hundred metres south of Middle Bay at the end of Merrill Road near Madeira Park. An easy trail loops along the coast from the small parking lot, through firs and over bare rock, with Texada Island across Malaspina Strait most of the way. In summer the sun sets toward the north end of Texada, so the evening light falls straight across these west-facing slopes.

The image is dye-sublimated into the coating of a ChromaLuxe aluminum panel, not printed on top. That's what gives a metal print its depth, its luminescence, and its longevity. Comes ready to hang on a hidden mount that floats it half an inch off the wall.
The image is face-mounted behind a 1/8-inch optically pure acrylic panel. The thickness adds depth, giving the print a slight glass-like quality where the image seems to sit just behind the surface. Polished edges, with a hidden mount on the back that floats the print half an inch off the wall.
