About this British Columbia Parliament Buildings wall art
The British Columbia Parliament Buildings face Victoria's Inner Harbour, and every night more than three thousand bulbs trace their domes, towers and arches. In December the display changes. The central dome goes red and green, a lit tree stands under the main arch, and the trees on the front lawn are wrapped in colour, all of it doubled in the wet paths after rain.
I visited on a rainy evening in December 2011. Rain is hard on a lens, and it took several tries to get a frame without drops on the glass. At night the wet sidewalk and stone pick up the lights and carry them into places that would otherwise fall into black. This frame is a thirty-second exposure from the centre path.
If you have stood on Belleville Street in December, this is the view. This BC Parliament Christmas lights print holds the whole front of the building in one frame, Victoria BC wall art for the hallway in December or the wall that needs a little light all year.

About This Spot
This BC Parliament Christmas lights print was made from the centre path on the front lawn, between the fountain and Belleville Street, looking straight at the main entrance. The grounds are open to the public and free, across the street from the Inner Harbour causeway, and the lights come on at dusk every night of the year, with the holiday colours added from early December into the new year. Rain helps here, the wet paths and stone carry the lights, and a tripod and a long exposure keep the bulbs crisp.

About the Prints

The image is dye-sublimated into the coating of a ChromaLuxe aluminum panel, not printed on top. That's what gives a metal print its depth, its luminescence, and its longevity. Comes ready to hang on a hidden mount that floats it half an inch off the wall.
The image is face-mounted behind a 1/8-inch optically pure acrylic panel. The thickness adds depth, giving the print a slight glass-like quality where the image seems to sit just behind the surface. Polished edges, with a hidden mount on the back that floats the print half an inch off the wall.
