About this Ogden Point Breakwater Pier wall art
The Ogden Point breakwater leaves Dallas Road at the edge of James Bay and runs 762 metres into the Strait of Juan de Fuca, a line of granite blocks capped with a concrete walkway. Two yellow stripes follow it out past the bend to the small red and white light at the end. On a calm morning the water lies flat on both sides.
I walked out on a cool Christmas Eve morning in 2012 hoping for a sunrise. The cloud stayed low and the colour never came, which is often how it goes on this coast. The low light let me slow the shutter and smooth the water instead. A few months later handrails were installed along the whole length, so this open view of the walkway is no longer there to photograph.
I am glad I walked it when I did. This Ogden Point breakwater print keeps the walkway the way it was, bare concrete, yellow lines and still water, and as Victoria BC wall art it brings more calm than colour.

About This Spot
This Ogden Point breakwater print was made from the walkway on the first straight, a short way out from Dallas Road in James Bay, looking toward the bend and the light. The breakwater is free to walk and open year-round, with parking beside it, about five minutes by car from the Inner Harbour. Overcast mornings give soft, even light, and calm days let a long exposure smooth the sea. Handrails were added in 2013.

The image is dye-sublimated into the coating of a ChromaLuxe aluminum panel, not printed on top. That's what gives a metal print its depth, its luminescence, and its longevity. Comes ready to hang on a hidden mount that floats it half an inch off the wall.
The image is face-mounted behind a 1/8-inch optically pure acrylic panel. The thickness adds depth, giving the print a slight glass-like quality where the image seems to sit just behind the surface. Polished edges, with a hidden mount on the back that floats the print half an inch off the wall.
